Monetization is disabled for my channel

If monetization is disabled for your YouTube channel, it could be for several reasons. Any of these actions could result in suspension of payments:

• Attempting monetization of videos you don't own. If you're not sure if you have the right to upload the content, check the Copyright FAQ. Also make sure you know how fair use works.
• Attempting monetization of videos that don't meet our advertiser-friendly content guidelines. We may reserve the right to disable ads on your entire channel in situations where most of your content is not suitable for any advertisers. This condition can also include where there are repeated, serious violations (for example, uploading of incendiary, demeaning, or hateful content).
• Violations of YouTube monetization policies, YouTube spam policies, AdSense Program Policies, or YouTube Terms of Service.

Severe violations of our YouTube channel monetization policies may result in monetization being permanently disabled on any of your accounts.

If you believe your copyright-protected work was posted on YouTube without authorization, you may submit a copyright infringement notification.

If your channel's monetization is paused, it means that you need to link an active and approved AdSense account to resume. Paused monetization is different than disabled monetization – learn more about paused monetization here.

Troubleshoot disabled monetization

Check monetization status on your channel

Check the monetization status by going directly to the Status and features section of the channel. You can also get there by following these steps:

1. Sign in to YouTube Studio.
2. In the left Menu, click Monetization to view your status.

Participation in the YouTube Partner Program was suspended

If it's decided that your channel is no longer eligible for monetization, your channel will lose access to all monetization tools and features.

Your channel will then no longer earn money from YouTube. This restriction includes revenue from advertising, YouTube Premium subscriptions, and products like channel memberships.

You can keep uploading original content and building your audience on YouTube even if you're not in the YouTube Partner Program. You can reapply to the program 30 days after suspension.

We want you to have a chance to monetize again, but to do that you'll need to make some changes to your channel. Learn more.

How to turn monetization back on

Important: Deleting a video with Community Guidelines or copyright strikes will not fix the issue. Learn more below.

Depending on the issue with your video or channel, you can take steps to reinstate monetization. To learn more, click below based on your monetization status.

Severe violations of our YouTube monetization policies may result in monetization being permanently disabled on any of your accounts.

Community Guidelines and copyright issues

Videos with Community Guidelines strikes, copyright strikes, and videos with visuals matching third-party content may contribute to monetization suspension on all your related accounts.

Deleting the video will not fix Community Guidelines or copyright issues. To reinstate monetization on your channel: Learn how to appeal Community Guidelines strikes or fix a copyright strike.

If you can't fix your copyright or Community Guidelines issues

If you can't fix your existing copyright or Community Guidelines issues, we may reinstate monetization on your channel after 3 months. You'll need to meet the following criteria:

• You haven't gotten any new copyright or Community Guidelines issues in the last 3 months.
• You use your channel in compliance with our policies: for example, by uploading content that you have the right to monetize.

YouTube Partner Program participation was suspended

You can re-apply to the program 30 days after suspension. Follow these general guidelines:

1. Start by going to the monetization page to read more about the policy your channel violated.
2. Then, review your videos against our YouTube monetization policies and our Community Guidelines.
3. The next step is to edit or delete any videos that violate our policies

If you reapply, our review team will carefully look over your content again. We'll email you to let you know when the process is complete (it takes about a month). You can also check the status of your application on the monetization page.

Address or ID not verified in AdSense

To help keep your account secure, AdSense requires you to verify your address before we send you any payments. To do so, we mail a Personal Identification Number (PIN) to your payment address. You'll then need to enter this PIN within your account.

Depending on your location, we may need to verify your identity using info like your name, address, or date of birth. If you're required to give this info, you typically won't be asked to verify your address until after you've successfully verified your identity.

If your identity or PIN is not verified, your channel can't monetize. Once you verify your identity or PIN, you can monetize.

Sign in to your AdSense account to see whether you need to verify your identity or enter a PIN. You can learn more about PIN verification and identity verification.
